The aim of the programme is to produce a polyvalent Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner who would fit into both curative and preventive care within the community.

The professional Ophthalmic Nurse will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to recognize the Eye needs of individuals, families, and communities and participate effectively and efficiently in meeting those needs

The school also aims at producing a cadre of eye care workers, who can provide comprehensive eye care to meet most of the eye health needs of the nation (as part of the Global initiative to eliminate avoidable blindness).
